Stonewall 40, How Have You Commemorated?

Another Voice In The Strength Of Many

Remembering Stonewall: 40 Years Later

As someone a bit to young to remember the days when our community rose up against the harassment of the police and said enough is enough, from the unidentified woman who sparked the crowd to fight, to the next day of the “limp wrist and Sunday Fag Follies” comment from the local paper, which caused another riot on Christopher Street with threats of burning down the building!

My contributions to Stonewall 40 (as well as “Stonewall”) have been out proud marching in 2 Pride Marches (Yes, marches and not parades as they commonly referred to), the numerous involvements in calls, letter writings and my devotion to LGBT CAT.

May Stonewall 40 be a reminder to us about how far we have come, and yet how far we still must go…

“Thank you,” to those who stood up for me and may I as well as you continue the fight until we are equal!
