New York, The Empire Inequality State

Marriage Equality Bill Fails In Senate Vote

Albany - The first Senate debate on the future of marriage equality in New York is officially dead.

As I sat there watching the live broadcast from the place that never seems to accomplish much in the way of fiscal responsibility, I felt a slim possibility of it's passage after the passionate pleas of doing the right thing. But, as the "slow vote" began, the no's began overshadowed the yes's. 1 by one, the Republican and "undercover Republican" senators voted it down. The final count - 24/38

The NY hall of shame featuring the dems who voted no on marriage equality:
Joseph Addabbo (D-Queens) • Darrel Aubertine (D- Cape Vincent) • Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) • Shirley Huntley (D-Queens) • Carl Kruger (D-Brooklyn) • Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens) • George Onorato (D-Queens) • William Stachowski (D-Buffalo).

Looks like we, the "second class" LGBT citizens of this great state will continue to pay taxes, work and struggle but will continue to have limited civil rights that all hetero's take for granted as the homophobe Senators (and those worried about their jobs) have spoken. Shame on all of those who decided the best thing for New York was to vote against equality. Shame on you!

New York deserves better and I hope this hard lesson of our continued second class citizen status will be a wake up call more than ever to become involved in our fight for equality!

Church And State Give You Our Blessings

The Influence Of The Religious Institution

Mormon Church

No Separation of church and state to benefit our Salt Lake City, Utah LGBT brothers and sisters in the protections that the rest of the community takes for granted.

With the blessings of the Mormon Temple, new "gay rights" will be allowed that protect in housing and job discrimination (I wonder if that includes the LDS community/properties). "The church supports these ordinances because they are fair and reasonable and do not do violence to the institution of marriage" the LDS said in a statement.

Does this look like an olive branch? Should we bow to the LDS in thanks? I say, NO! This is more the reason there needs and has to be a separation of church and state and that the church should not be involved in laws that affect others, especially when it comes to denying others of their civil rights.

I think the best thing for these churches is that they lose their tax exempt status since they are part of the political machine that destroyed families with their funding of Proposition 8. They find it less important distributing their massive funds to help feed the hungry, help the homeless and other community issues all in the name of bigotry and intolerance...

Do You Feel Safer Now?

Historic Hate Crimes Bill Signed Into Law

Washington D.C. - President Barack Obama signs the much overdue hate crimes bill into law giving protection status to our community as well as persons with disABILITIES (wow, I am protected twice in 1 bill uh?).

But, at what moment do we truly celebrate this victory/compromise?

To receive the status this bill affords the LGBT community, it had to be attached to the military defense bill. It is disappointing to know that its the main reason for its passage and not because it was the right thing to do.

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful that now we will have some recognition for the horrible crimes committed against our community for nothing more than being who we are and showing the simple act of love. But, will we truly be a protected class? Hate is hate and hate knows no boundaries/protections.

It will not be enough being signed into law but rather the best defense against these acts is education. Education must begin at home, school, church, work, etc.

It's another step forward on the long and winding road called Equality we hope to finish in a land called America...

National Coming Out Day/Equality March

A Voice By The Thousands Promising To Be Loud And Proud!

As National Coming Out Day approaches us once again, this year promises to be much more than a day of "self liberation" as thousands of queer Americans and supporters will descend upon Washington D.C. demanding to be heard on the issues of equality and fairness in everything from marriage to jobs, housing and the past campaign promise by then presidential candidate Barack Obama to lift DADT (military ban on serving openly).

As my disapproval towards those that want to deny us of our rights turns to anger, I find positive ways of venting that energy towards advocacy and education (as well as the creation of my award winning LGBT CAT toolbar) in many things I do such as having a conversation with someone regarding the many benefits and protections (such as the recent situation where a lesbian was denied access to her dying partner because Florida is a homophobic state and that hate can legally be used to deny you access to a loved one) we are NOT entitled to solely based on our sexual orientation/identity to being discharged from serving our country.

These discriminative issues just don't seem to make much sense in the great land of America, especially after my recent trip to Springfield, Illinois in where I learned so much more about a beloved man and former president named Abraham Lincoln who's famous Gettysburg Address invoked principles of human equality encompassed by the Declaration Of Independence "a new birth of freedom" that would bring true equality to all of its citizens and declared the sacrifices of battle had rededicated the nation to propositions of democracy and equality.

So,
here we are, 2009' battling for the basic rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, happiness to be free to be who we are because that is what so many, including Lincoln have fought and died for.

So, as we come or step out to be heard, let us not forget the fight for equality does not come easy in a country that "guarantees it" but rather, which is manipulated by hate and bigotry.

Overcome them and we have won our fight!

Stand tall, stand proud and most importantly, be yourself!

As The Band Played On, DADT Played Even Louder

Celebrating The Sacrifices Of America's (straight) Armed Forces

And the band played on...

At an evening of celebration at the nation's premier military academy, West Point,
the MC of ceremonies began by speaking of how many sacrifices the armed services have and continue to give to this great nation of freedom and that we should all stand and feel proud as the flag is lowered.

Sitting there, I began to think of how for many American's, the word "freedom" does not truly apply as well as any celebrating of their sacrifices as I am often reminded of inequality and DADT.

Yes, the performances were outstanding as the military bands Hellcats, Jazz Knights and West Point Concert Band played into the evening followed by a spectacular display of fireworks over the Hudson.

So, as I celebrated the sacrifices of our military service members, a special moment of celebration and sadness from my heart went out to my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community who were shown thanklessness and discharged under DADT...

To you I say, "Thank You!"

And, may DADT one day no longer be a part of America's great policy of discrimination and bigotry.

Goodbye And Thank You Dear Friend!

A True Ally In The Fight For Equality, You Will Never Be Forgotten.

U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy (February 22nd, 1932 - August 25th, 2009)

Some of Senator Kennedy's great contributions to our community included voting against the 1996 passage of DOMA, fighting against any attempts at passing an outright federal marriage equality ban, co-sponsor of ENDA and supporter of the Matthew Shepard Act.

Senator Kennedy leaves behind a legacy of fighting for the "little guy" and those with a "weak voice" in a country where bigotry, intolerance and hate make for passage of oppression and discriminative for many.

G-d bless you and thank you for all you have done for humanity.
P.S. If you see my beloved angel Booboo in Heaven, please tell her I miss and love her very much!

Railroaded

A Bitter And Costly Road Many New Yorkers Will Travel

Ok, so this is not actually about LGBT rights/equality (actually, once a year it is commonly referred to as the "Gay Train" by our community, come the last weekend in June and not to mention, it is very hot on board due to so many open flames that day) but, it is about unfairness.

With all the fiscal mismanagement in Albany and those who run this so called "commuter haven" that stretches it's ugly tentacles from NYC and lower CT all the way up most of the Mid Hudson valley of New York.

Metro North, which has for some time been crying "hardship, has been pressing the powers that be to do something. So, the "good ol' folks" in Albany decided to "railroad" those who live in the area where the train comes threw by creating exorbitant automotive registration fees.

My previous 2 year automotive registration renewal fee - $48.00
"New and improved" 2 year "railroaded" registration renewal - $163.50

Lets break down those purse lightening little fees:

Increase in flat rate registration fee - $71.00
Motor vehicle "use fee" $10.00 (I wonder if I could avoid it if I promise not to use my vehicle)
Metro North Train Fee - $50.00
6 cylinders under the hood. Yep, there's a fee for that too! - $32.50

$163.50

That cost does not include yet more fees on the way in 2010 with the new driver's license fees and license plates we will all be required to pay for...

The point I am making in this posting is that we need to take a stand against those that treat us unfairly. Be it equality or Albany!

Do you live in New York? Contact Albany and your elected officials and tell them to stop railroading us because enough is enough of this nonsense!
P.S. Albany and my elected officials have heard my anger!

Strange Bedfellows: President Obama And Department Of Justice

LGBT Equality/Rights Tug Of War

Working towards equality while working against equality...

In a political system that just never ceases to amaze me, President Obama has gone public saying DOMA is anti gay and unfair and wants to work on its repeal. All the while, the Department Of Justice is working diligently to defend it.

How is it a government of, by and for the people can work so hard to defend something that denies people their rights?

Thank you Mr. President, for taking a stand and for making it publicly known that you believe this hateful law is just that, hateful and wrong and needs to go!

Right Wing Nut Jobs: "Because I Can Do It"

GOP Rule: Gun Rights, Gun Rights, Gun Rights!

Look at my gun so powerful and deadly

While you worry about something so "mundane" as health care or gay rights, people are trying to take away "my rights" to carry this beautiful weapon
that is designed to do one thing extremely well, and that is, kill.

What is wrong with this country? We have right wing nut jobs walking around outside town hall health care meetings (and some even with the US President speaking) making a clear statement wearing a sign, "Because I Can Do It," while making sure their devices of death are in plain view.

Where is it their rights are in jeopardy? Why is it I am constantly fighting and being denied the simple right to protect and care for the one I love?

If they believe so much that their rights are in jeopardy, shouldn't they join "our cause" and fight for our rights because along with their rights to have these weapons, I am also guaranteed the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness but that is constantly being denied. Rights are rights right? (hmmm...)

Kudos to President Barack Obama in doing the right thing in his tireless effort to solve America's health care crisis. Far from perfect but, he has taken a stand...

A Change Of Taste Made By Many Voices!

*Update To, "A Cup Of Coffee Guaranteed To Leave A Bitter Taste"

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons responds to inquiries about Rhode Island event sponsorship

"Recently, Tim Hortons was approached in Rhode Island to provide free coffee and products for a local event, as we do thousands of times a year across Canada and the United States.

For 45 years, Tim Hortons and its store owners have practiced a philosophy of giving back to the communities in which we operate. As a company, our primary focus is on helping children and supporting fundraising events for non-profit organizations and registered charities.

For this reason, Tim Hortons has not sponsored those representing religious groups, political affiliates or lobby groups.

It has come to our attention that the Rhode Island event organizer and purpose of the event fall outside of our sponsorship guidelines. As such, Tim Hortons can not provide support at the event.

Tim Hortons and its store owners have always welcomed all families and communities to its restaurants and will continue to do so. We apologize for any misunderstanding or inconvenience this may have caused."

Thank you to all who took a stand against hate, intolerance and inequality by sending a loud and clear message to Tim Hortons that not only is it wrong to support these anti family groups, it also makes bad business sense...

A Cup Of Coffee Guaranteed To Leave A Bitter Taste...

"We Do Not Support Those Who Represent Religious Organizations"

Tim Hortons

Considered to be one of the best coffee's I ever had, I was even known to have made the statement; "Coffee so good, it's worth the middle finger!" That statement has a long story to it...

Recently, it has been learned that Tim Horton's will sponsor an upcoming event in Rhode Island promoting an organization NOT dedicated to protecting marriage and family. In it's fight for in inequality, National Organization For Marriage's voice and message is being sponsored by the Canadian Firm that not only supports it, but makes it known by allowing their logo to appear on brochures distributed by NOFM.

If this leaves a bad taste in your mouth (and it should), send a clear message to Tim Horton's letting them know
(1-888-601-1616).

We must let these organizations know that supporting hate and intolerance is not only wrong, it's bad for business...

An Act Of Cowardess And Pure Hatred Against Our Community

A "Safe Space," Far From Safe...

Israeli police officers and rescue workers are on duty outside the site of a shooting attack in Tel Aviv on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009. Police say a gunman entered a gay club in central Tel Aviv on Saturday night and sprayed the interior with automatic fire, killing two people and injuring 12. (AP Photo/Ariel Schalit)

Tel Aviv - The evil and far reaching power of hatred and bigotry reared it's ugly head and claimed the lives of 2 and injured up to 11 in a cowardly and despicable act.

In a place designated as a "safe space," a coward hid from behind a mask, stormed into the center and opened fire on a group of youth doing nothing more than enjoying an evening out.

When will all this hate and intolerance stop? When will adults teach their children? When will the churches teach love and acceptance? When will the politicians and right wing Christian groups stop using us and our rights as political wedge issues?

Enough is enough. The time to stop this hate, abuse, discrimination and killing of LGBT folks just for being nothing more than ourselves has to stop.

Take a stand and show you condemn the recent Tel Aviv attack and make a strong statement by contacting your family, friends, acquaintances, school, politicians and religious organizations and talk to them. Need help, contact a local LGBT Community Center and get involved by making a difference in your life and the lives of your LGBT brothers and sisters because you can...

How Do You Spell Hypocrite? GOP

Right Winger's "Morals Rule" Goes Down Hypocritical Toilet...

Do as I say and not as I do, DAMMIT!

Paul Stanley (R), a Tennessee State Senator, staunch foe against LGBT equality and pro abstinence supporter (he was against any support for Planned Parenthood because, "he did not believe in sex outside of the marriage") has resigned his seat after being caught (and blackmailed) with his filthy, hypocritical hands in the "bad morals" cookie jar.

In a typical GOP caught and damage control speech, he went on to say:

"
Whatever I stood for and advocated, I still believe to be true," he said during an interview Tuesday with Memphis radio station WREC-AM. "And just because I fell far short of what God's standard was for me and my wife, doesn't mean that that standard is reduced in the least bit."

Fighting To Deny Others - A Cost So Much More Than Rights And Money

Homelessness, Empty Stomachs, Troubled Youth, Hate And Oh Yes, Money…

© 2002, Rick Satterfield.

Have you ever wondered how the individuals of these so called, “organizations of compassion” claim to be so G-dly when much of their efforts and funds are spent hurting and denying others a basic right to life, liberty and protections of the one most important in their life, all the while, people right in their own “backyard” are starving, homeless and at risk youth?

How is it that in America, the religious zealots and right wing friends of hate/intolerance wield so much influence over “freedom loving American’s?”

With our community being in the “fight of it’s equality life,” It is time to wake up, demand to be heard and take back America, the US Constitution “guarantees it!”

Get involved with a local community center, state/national organization, your senators or elected officials and demand change for fairness and equality.

Remember: equality, nothing more, nothing less!

Guns, Gay Marriage And The GOP Hypocrites!

States Rights When It Comes To Gun Rights? Ha!

"Republican Party Elephant" logo

How interesting it is that the majority of Republicans (along with 20 Democrats) voted in favor of the Concealed Gun Law. A law, that if passed, would have stripped the state's rights to self rule that the majority of Republicans and right wing nut jobs had fought so hard to "protect" when it came to any "forced recognition" of out of state same-sex marriages not currently recognized or banned in their states.

Why would this not surprise me? Well, because the GOP motto clearly states:
"Do as I say, not as I do!"

Why aren't their "religious allies" standing against them when it comes to guns? silent they stand but, when it comes to protections for love, shout out in loud opposition from the highest pulpit!

“Stopping Same Sex Marriage Is A Battle We Can Win!” PMW

Stopping Fairness And Equality At Any Cost!

Bullshit

In a race against time, homophobic and deceptive Protect Marriage Washington has asked the Secretary Of State’s Office to extend their office hours into Saturday as to give more time to submit the 120, 577 signatures needed to place Referendum 71 on the November ballot in hopes of overturning the recent “Everything But Marriage Law.”

Protect Marriage Washington, in it’s website messages has stated:

Stopping same-sex marriage is a battle that we can win!

As Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization of Marriage recently told the press: "Three recent polls (Pew, Gallup and CBS News/NYT) confirm that a strong majority of Americans continue to oppose gay marriage, despite the recent push for gay marriage in Iowa and the northeast. Strong majorities of Republicans and independents oppose gay marriage according to the latest Pew poll. Even 41 percent of Democrats oppose gay marriage".

Also, Protect Marriage Washington is asking everyone to “pray that they succeed in collecting the signatures.”

Contact Protect Marriage Washington or you can call them at (360)631-1894, and tell these right wing nut jobs to do what is right and protect all families in Washington, DC but, if they are not interested, they need to stay out of our lives and business, they have their "protections and rights!"

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes But No Love, Love, Love...

Take Away Love, But Not The Car

White Plains Mayor Joseph Delfino exits his city-owned vehicle, a 2006 Buick Lucerne, at City Hall. Stuart Bayer/The Journal News

Plenty of high taxes and no love is something that constantly eats at me as I hear of stories like this around the country.

"City Of White Plains lays of workers, cuts services, raises taxes and increases the number of take home vehicles!"

Outgoing city Mayor Delfino (R) is seen exiting the city owned taxpayer funded 2006 Buick Lucerne (why not a lower priced, more economical vehicle?) as more and more people in the city complain of higher and higher taxes.

How is this America when we vote to deny protections and civil rights of 2 loving adults, but we can't or don't vote to stop runaway frivolous spending and more taxes? And they always thought it was the so called, "out of control, tax and spend liberals?!"

GOP - Conservative for the votes and love and liberal the other...

Amazing how hate and bigotry have more power than money (except when the churches and anti equality organizations are raising it)!

The Power Of The Picket Sends A Clear Message Against Supporters Of Hate

Homophobic Christians Air Their Lies “Silencing The Christians” During Gay Pride

Those religious bigots just never cease to amaze me with their, “where the victim’s here and their trying to silence me” lies.

June 27th, Florida (the state of homophobia) television station WFLA, in it’s bad judgment, decided to air an hour long program that basically did nothing more than attack the LGBT community.

Silencing the Christians uh? For a country built on the principals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the separation of church state, it looks like the religious zealots hold the cards of silencing as they put forth so much effort trying to restrict and tear apart loving and committed families.

Hypocrites airing such a program about “silencing them” when the story out of a Connecticut, “Diocese asks US Supreme Court to block the release of abuse records.” Silence is golden uh?

Our community seeks equality, not the heinous acts the church is working so hard to keep secret…

Stonewall 40, How Have You Commemorated?

Another Voice In The Strength Of Many

Remembering Stonewall: 40 Years Later

As someone a bit to young to remember the days when our community rose up against the harassment of the police and said enough is enough, from the unidentified woman who sparked the crowd to fight, to the next day of the “limp wrist and Sunday Fag Follies” comment from the local paper, which caused another riot on Christopher Street with threats of burning down the building!

My contributions to Stonewall 40 (as well as “Stonewall”) have been out proud marching in 2 Pride Marches (Yes, marches and not parades as they commonly referred to), the numerous involvements in calls, letter writings and my devotion to LGBT CAT.

Yet another majority of the people's have gathered to once again remove the right's from a minority group of Americans.

It still amazes me how the First Amendment is continuously trampled over in the name of "faith" as stated by Rev Bob Emrich who went on to say;
"
State voters have repeatedly defined marriage as between a man and a woman when given the opportunity, with the latest vote in California, said Emrich, founder of Maine Jeremiah Project, which aims to get people of faith involved in setting public policy.."

All in the name of "protecting" marriage. Protecting marriage from what, whom? Isn't marriage a bond between 2 loving adults?

Seems like these heterosexual hypocrites haven't done such a great job of "protecting" marriage all these years with the countless divorces, convenience marriages, flings, murders, etc.

Stand up against hate, contact these groups and let them know you stand for equality and the First Amendment:

"I Can See Russia From My Home" Palin, Gone, Or Is She?

"Hockey Mom" Hypocrite Says Goodbye To Governorship

FILE - In this Oct. 26, 2008 file photo, Republican vice presidential candidate

In a strange and bold move, Governor Sarah Palin (R) has not only stated she will not seek another term but has also resigned effective July 25th with Lt. Governor Sean Parnell being sworn in as the next Alaskan Governor.

Alaskan citizens rejoice!

Some speculate that she is focusing on bigger and better things like a possible run for the White House in 2012 as well as more cash since being the top dog in Alaska just doesn't cut it I guess.

The best thing this hypocrite can do is disappear from the political stage and go back to all the wonderful things she holds dear to her heart like reading all the national newspapers, keeping an eye on Russia from her home, making friends in the public safety sector, being a hockey mom, being a friend to the gay community and affecting positive change from the outside.

Positive change? Sarah, I think you need to look deep inside before you can bring about "positive change" to the masses.

I say "good riddance!" But, unfortunately we have not heard the last of you I am sure...

W. VA's Issue Of Importance, "Create A Constitutional Amendment Against Marriage Equality!"

Of Importance - Economic Hard Times, Job Losses, Pink Bridges, Nope!

State seal of West Virginia

It's the issue of that twisted and perverted thing called "same sex marriage," you idiot!

In yet another reminder of how West Virginia has it's political house in order, state lawmakers have began studying the proposal of a Constitutional Amendment banning marriage equality.

West Virginia already has a law on the books restricting marriage to those privileged heterosexuals, but Lawmakers are concerned it could be overturned by those with an agenda of equality...

These are the people who are voted in to take care of the people's business uh? It is amazing that they spend so much time working on hate instead of protecting all citizens and families of West Virginia and doing more for the economy, jobs, housing, etc.

Can you guess the party mostly behind this one?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Contact state Legislators and tell them to fight against such an Amendment of hate and to instead stand for equality for all West Virginia families!

Wack Job Anti LGBT State Rep. Sally Kern Launches "Moralities" Campaign

Grandma Potty Mouth Once Again Spewing Her Garbage

Sally Kern

In her fight to keep Oklahoma safe from that "twisted and perverted gay agenda," State Legislator Sally Kern (Repugnican), has once again come out against the LGBT community in her attempts to create a morality proclamation saying:

"This nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same-sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse and many other forms of debauchery."

The Proclamation declares the federal government "is forsaking the rich Christian heritage upon which this nation was built."

Has this nut job ever heard of the First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. "

Someone should give her a copy of the U.S. Bill Of Rights...

Go West/North And Marry, Then Return Home To Be An Equal (Well Almost).

You Are Equal, But...

Official seal of District of Columbia

For us to consider you that, in marriage equality, you will have to temporarily pick up from where you call home, work, pay taxes and whatever else you do and head West Or North to say "I do," and only until then will you be legally recognized by us (but not YOUR federal government) when you return.

The new law which was approved by a 12 - 1 vote by the DC Council in May, went into effect Tuesday "allowing" DC the ability to legally recognize marriages performed out of the district.

What a way to compromise on our rights!?!?

Just the other day, July 4th to be exact, I was reminded of all the wonderful "freedoms" and "rights" we as American's enjoy in a place where you can still be fired from your job, released from military service, beat up, denied housing, denied the right of a marriage license, denied the right to adopt, laughed at just for the simple fact of being who you are...

"A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand!" A.L.

A Party Of many One...

This morning, I received a note from a new friend. It was rather a sad and disturbing message regarding our community as a whole.

During a Pride festival, my friend mentioned he was handing out some trinkets and goodies (who doesn't like getting free stuff at Pride!?) to spread some cheer as well as to help promote his business. Anyway, he had mentioned that some people in our community were hostile towards him because he is an older gay man and that the stuff he was offering was of no value. Of no value?

Also my recent day at Pride brought my queer friend a few not so pleasant stares from our community
. Yes, our community.

It bothers me to see that amongst a community of many, and who has been through so much turmoil, hatred and violence, we don't do more to embrace and strengthen as a party of one. Yes, you have your various groups from gender queer, transgender, lesbians, lesbians of color, older lesbians, bears, gays of color, older gays, younger gays, bisexuals, queer youth, men born men, womyn born womyn and so.

Yet, aren't we all fighting for the same common cause(s)?!

Equality, marriage, non discrimination, tolerance, etc.

Enough is enough already. Instead of all the divisions between our groups, remember that we are all on the same "team" and that if we continue to divide, we will never move forward for if one group loses out, we all lose, plain and simple!

Spend more time loving and less time judging and dividing for those jobs are already taken by the hateful conservative zealots and right wing.

Let's celebrate Stonewall 40 together!

Illegals In California "More Right's Than LGBT Families"

LGBT Families Have Their Right's Taken Away While Illegals Who Break the Law Are Rewarded...

The Great Seal Of The State Of California logotype
If this doesn't cause more anger in California and the LGBT population, I don't know what will.

The San Francisco D.A.'s office is under fire for a program that rewarded illegals who committed a crime and then underwent a job training program (in which they should not/or could not LEGALLY work at) to have their criminal records expunged.

Meanwhile, the "good citizens" of California voted to take away the rights (backed by the California Supreme Court) of legal U.S. Citizen taxpayers of their home state while the illegals have more rights and protections!

Yet Another "Sanctity Of Marriage" Christian Goes Down In A Blaze Of Glory!

Hooray For The Hypocrite "Protecting" Marriage!

FILE - In this April 3, 2009 file photo, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford fields

*** Update 6/25 - This is the same fucking repugnican hypocrite who called for the removal of President Clinton when he was caught!

In a strange twist, South Carolina's Governor Mark Sanford (R) not only goes AWOL from his state position as Governor, but also from his wife and family to romp and roll with a woman from Argentina.

Yet, through it all,
his marriage is "safe" (at least for now that is) and protected against us queers from ever causing any confusion as to what marriage is truly about...

As I sit here and try to figure this all out as well as our next move for equality, I wonder as to when there will truly be "protection" of the institution of marriage for all of us, not just those "privileged" few hypocrites...

A Cherished Dream And Sacred Right

The Ultimate Sacrifice For Freedom

Since the beginning of repression, there's been the need and fight for freedom.

Freedom, that word that knows no language, cultural or political boundaries has once again claimed it's casualty. This time, a young woman in Iran known by the name of "Neda," Farsi for the voice of the call.

Whether it be the greatest US President, Abraham Lincoln, the militaries fighting against the evil oppressors, Dr. Martin Luther King, Harvey Milk, Medgar Evers or all the other freedom fighters of the world, people will continue fighting and dying for that great reward...

FREEDOM to be me.

FREEDOM to live my life.

FREEDOM from hatred.

FREEDOM from oppression.

FREEDOM from discrimination.

FREEDOM to love.

And one day, FREEDOM to marry...

Never give up the fight for freedom!

"Out, Out, Out You Gay Employees!"

Homophobic Sues To Get Names Of LGBT City Workers Released
View Image

A Seattle City Light Employee, who has consistently gone after various groups for minority rights issues and who just can't find his true identity, has sued and won a case demanding the names of LGBT city employees...

58 year old Philip Irvin, the city employee and "Christian Caucasian with no African American Blood (he was a dues paying member of the City Light black Employees Association)," had demanded that under the equal treatment of the law, he had the right to know the what's and who's of the city group since he felt he was being excluded from such group.

If that wasn't enough, he also sued for sign in sheet names and minutes of the meetings.

It never ceases to amaze me how these crackpots use the legal system to cause harm to others and now the possible impact it could have on many of the LGBT employees whom may not have been out to family, friends or other employees.

May we all one day live without the "security" of the closets, and nut jobs like the Philip Irvins of the world, and other hate mongers who want nothing more than for us to go away because we wont,
AT LEAST I WILL NOT!

Another Stand For Christian Conservatives And Their "Sanctity Of Marriage"

Do As I Say, Not As I Do!

Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev. speaks at a news conference at the Lloyd D. George

Hypocrite, you fucking hypocrite!

Senator John Ensign (R) of Nevada, has been caught with his hypocritical "Christian" hands in the cookie jar
after admitting to an extra marital affair with an ex staffer.

"Last year I had an affair. I violated the vows of my marriage. It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life," Ensign said Tuesday in a hastily arranged news conference.

It is also believed this was not his first affair. GOP, "protecting the sanctity of marriage" by denying us our civil rights and standing up for "traditional marriage" with a little action on the side...

Yet Another Barring Of Access In Crisis

Enough is Fucking Enough!!!

View Image

I am fucking mad and if you are part of the LGBT Community or a believer in equality, civil rights or just human compassion, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

In yet another situation of being denied access to a loved one in times of an emergency, a lesbian couple in Fresno, California has been caused unnecessary emotional and physical pain by the bigots and morons entrusted with her care from the EMT's to the ER
(recently, another lesbian couple from Florida went threw such horrible agony as the one partner died alone in her hospital bed because the hospital denied them access to each other).

What the he!! is going on here, THIS IS AMERICA FOR FUCKING CRYING OUT LOUD! When will this stop????

If you are furious about this situation (and you should be because this could be you next!) as I am, you will contact the hospital Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California and tell them that there policy is just wrong in discriminating against a loving couple and keeping them from each other in a potentially life and death situation.

Contact your state legislators as well as President Obama and tell them that we too are Americans and that we need the discrimination and hatred to stop.
TAKE A STAND AND SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"

What The F*** "Protecting Taxpayer's Rights?"

Washington, You Have Done Us A Great Injustice!

If you've been following the recent LGBT news like I have regarding the case of Arthur Smelt & Christopher Hammer, who were challenging the 96' federal "DOMA" law, you would be very angry like I am! You would be saying "what the F***!!!!!!) Obama, what the f*** are you doing? How can you allow this to happen especially being one of your campaign promises to our community was for fairness and equality for all families...

The recent decision to dismiss the lawsuit under support of Washington is yet another black eye of injustice in America.

U.S. Department of Justice lawyers argued that the act — known informally as DOMA — is constitutional and contended that awarding federal marriage benefits to gays would infringe on the rights of taxpayers in the 30 states that specifically prohibit same-sex marriages.

RIGHTS OF TAXPAYERS? WHAT ARE WE???????????????????? Why are we continuing to pay taxes if we are not equal? Aren't the "taxpayers" infringing on our rights since they receive services that we cannot receive BUT HAVE TO PAY FOR?

Write to Washington DC and demand that Obama do the right thing because the time is NOW!

Big Splash Against Gay Family

"I Don't See A Family," No Family Rate For You.

Gay couple, kids denied family rate at pool

In yet another travesty of injustice towards our community, a family from Pocatello, Idaho was denied the family rate plan because they did not "fit the definition of a family in Idaho" according to the homophobic director, Mark Lowe of the Lava Hot Springs Association.

He went on to say, "The state does not recognize gay or lesbian marriages and defines a family as 1 male and 1 female and children."

The ironic part is that the family decided to accept his definition of a "family" and pay the rate for individual children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, this couple feeds, clothes, loves and tucks them into bed at night but still they are not a family?

After checking their "family" policy as of June 1oth, here is what I found:

FAMILY DISCOUNT PASS POLICY
Intent: The family discount is intended to help families afford the day out at a swimming pool or hot pool facility that they may not otherwise be able to afford. It is also intended to increase attendance at the facilities midweek when business is typically slower. Therefore, the discount is available Monday-Thursday except major holidays – New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.

Eligibility: In order to be as consistent as possible, families that are eligible for the discount are considered to be parents and children. The children must be dependant children of the parent, or parents, present at the time of entry, and under the age of 18.

For the purpose of this discount, parent is defined as the person who has long-term legal responsibility for the dependant children.

Discussion: The children need not be biological offspring of the legally responsible adult(s). Adopted children and foster children are considered part of the family so long as the stipulations listed above are met. Parents are defined as those adults who are either legally obligated to the care of the dependant children or are married to the adult who is the parent of the dependant children. Single parents and their children are eligible for the discount.

Adults who are raising their siblings are eligible for the discount.

Make your voice heard and send a message to Mr "family man" Mark Lowe and tell him "Love Makes A Family," not the state or the Lava Hot Springs Pool Association!

At A Cost To Our Community, Politics As Usual...

Obama's "Promise" To Our Community, What?

Former Army National Guard Lt. Dan Choi, an Arabic-speaking specialist dismissed

Washington DC - With another round of bigotry and nonsense at the legal levels, another setback was had today as the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to the validity of DADT since being thrown out of a Federal Appeals Court earlier.

With Barack Obama nicely situated at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the count for much needed and skilled US Service members being discharged since you were elected under the legal discriminative rule of DADT stands at 238...

Mr. President, why are you not addressing the issues that were supposedly near and dear to you when you were seeking the high office like equality and the ending of DADT? Why is it you are so concerned about overseas issues and religion now and not more of the domestic issues you said you would address? When, when will you make it a priorty? Isn't the military supposed to be a "Military of One?"

We need serious change Mr. President, for in America the words of the greatest U.S. President ring loud and clear, "A House Divided Cannot Stand!" - Abraham Lincoln... End the discrimination and unite!

I Refuse To Tell You Who I am Until After The Wedding!

Congratulations, you may both kiss and get to know each other's names!

A strange new show by Fox (the ones who bring you that obnoxious "fair and balanced" program), promoting arranged weddings for heterosexuals is quite amusing and something only they can do and approve.

Take "our" love, we get to know each other, fall in love and wish to marry but are denied in most states but an arranged marriage between 2 strangers like 1 man and 1 woman can do it!

Oh how heterosexual couples never cease to amaze me in their quest for recognition and "protections" of that oh so "special" institution called marriage...

Bring Your Gun To Church Day And Be Blessed!

We Can't Have Our Love But Thou Can Have A Gun In Church...

Ken Pagano, pastor of New Bethel Church in Louisville, Kentucky, talks,

Louisville Kentucky - The New Bethel Church is a welcoming place to more than just it's parishioners as the message is "celebrate the 4th of July and the Second Amendment!"

"Welcome Smith & Wesson, Colt, Browning, Remington, Taurus and all the other bulleted killing devices! You are welcome here! Hallelujah!!!!
"

Hey there "freedom fighter," what about the 1st Amendment and some of the core principles of the US Constitution of "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?"

Isn't there something in that book you preach from saying "thou shall not kill?" What is a gun designed to do? Why not work more on spreading love and tolerance of others and maybe, just maybe there would be a little less need to bring a gun to church!

An ad in the church says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and handgun safety classes!

"Were just going to celebrate the upcoming theme of the birth of our nation" says Pastor Ken Pagano who further went on to say "we're not ashamed to say there was a strong belief in G-d and firearms - without that, this country wouldn't be here."

With recent church shootings of which he condemned, highlight the need to promote safe gun ownership. The "bring your gun to church day!" was planned months before the killing of the late term abortion provider Dr. Tiller at a Wichita church

"Secrets Revealed" For Full LGBT Equality!

Take Out Your Pencils And Paper!

In a recent and interesting discussion with someone I know, some pretty shocking secrets were revealed to me in why the gay community is not advancing much...

"The gay rights movement is too loud and radical!" We need to tone down our voices and learn to stop shouting (possibly due to how we are treated?) because the "other side" does not do that...

"Does anyone know if this is true?!"

Now, raise your hand if you can tell me if the following groups or individuals are considered radical, loud, murderous, hateful and obnoxious towards our community? - AFA, Russell Arthur Henderson/Aaron James Mckinney - (Matthew Shepard murder, Wyoming), Reverend Fred Phelps - (Westboro Baptist Church), NYC Police Department - (Stonewall), JDF, American Vision, Traditional Values Coalition, Odium Books, Black Radical Congress, G-d Hates Fags, Washington Values Alliance, Allen Andrade - (Angie Zapata murder, Colorado), Dwight DeLee - (Lateshia Green murder, Syracuse, NY), Police - (Duanna Johnson murder, Tennessee), Ronnie Robertson (Beating at bar, Ohio), Humberto Salvador, Josue Gonzalez, and 2 other boys who are under age - (gang rape/carjacking lesbian, California), Long Island Gay Youth Center - (thousands of dollars in damage from vandalism), Lesbian's car vandalized - (rainbow sticker causes vandalism of hate words "fag" and "UR Gay" spray painted on car, New York)...

These "gentle othersiders" who continue their messages of hate and bigotry are not what I consider people you could sit down with and have a dialogue about equal rights and no more hate/violence with.

"What about all those men who dressed up in women's clothings and went to the church to disturb those praying?"

I went on to mention that we as a community do not go around doing things such as that, unlike the Reverend Fred Phelps, who pickets at the funerals of fallen US Soldiers shouting anti gay words...

What do you think? Do we need to continue "shouting" and making our voices heard?

Or...

Do we need to go back to "civilized" ways like asking the nice radical right and those that believe we are sick and perverted to just listen to us?

I know what I have to do, do you?

The Beauty Of New Hampshire As Usual!

A Bright New Day With Skies Still Above New Hampshire...

News & Events

As I sit here thinking about yesterday's wonderful news for our New Hampshire LGBT community (and wondering when the good ol' folks up in Albany will get off their asses and pass marriage equality in New York), I hear nothing on CNN (truly fair and balanced) or other major news agencies of a "stay indoors alert" or "if heading out, wear your hard helmet," for their is a strong possibility of the sky falling over New Hampshire.

In fact, after a quick "Google" of the weather in New Hampshire, it turns out it's a cool and partly cloudy day...

People are going about their business as usual (accept for some of those religious right who are pondering what their next course of action is against "those liberal, anti gun, sick and perverted homosexuals" and trying to overturn what is right and fair) like heading off to work, school, shopping or celebrating the joyous right of marriage equality...

Yep, just another usual day of caring for the family, worrying about paying some bills, health care, possible vacation, retirement.. Accept now, everyone can look forward to another "usual day" in New Hampshire!

So go ahead my queer brothers and sister of the Granite State, pop that bottle of bubbly and celebrate! Here's hoping you find peace joy and happiness and that perfect someone to fill your heart and home with plenty of love, LEGALLY!!!
