A new organization known as "Knights Out" (a West Point LGBT alumni group) has pledged in a statement to "serve as a critical support and advocacy group for the full acceptance of gay service members, particularly at West Point."
By the publicly outing, they are making a statement against the government's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy" and striving to take ownership of their contributions to the institution and military in general.
